There now are 40 chapters of American Pilgrims (APOC). Our Capital Area chapter has more than 900 on our mailing list. Like other chapters, we do hikes, practice caminos, get togethers and an annual shell ceremony, which draws people from all over the Mid-Atlantic. Our First Day Hike, just a few days ago, was at Sugarloaf Mountain near Frederick, Maryland. If we get snow (and it's been two years since we had even a one inch snowfall), we will do a "pop-up" hike at Arlington Cemetery, which is a truly inspirational place in the snow (with lots of elevation change!). We are hoping to do an overnight practice camino with full gear in late April at Prince William National Forest where there are bunkhouses and a communal lodge for meals.
