Greetings from Jerusalem! I should be in Lisboa March 23 and plan to leave after the weekend. Lisbon-Tomar-side tripping from Tomar not Santarem-to Fatima-Bathala-Leiria-rejoining at Coimbra and on to Porto-Barcelos-side tripping to Braga-and back then straight to Santiago-God willing. I would be very happy to meet and talk along the way, look for a 60+ Jewish pilgrim to Saint James, yes there are such things he is one of our boys after all. I have paid my dues, walked the Camino Francés from St Jean twice. Have spent weeks on the maps and cannot decide between Valença or Tui as to where to stop, any recommendations? One should never criticize the Camino however accomodation in Valença seems, well, unappealing. Would be happy for any information. Thank you Laurie, you have been a big help. Bom Caminho!

Wow, your departure is coming up soon, so happy to hear that you've got your route all planned. I have probably said this a million times to you and others, but just for the record, remember the Peregrino SOS 24 hour phone line with help waiting in English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and French. From in Portugal 915 595 213.

I just received an email from the Via Lusitana describing a re-routing between Conimbriga and Cernache, south of Coimbra, but that won't affect you since you're veering off to visit Fatima. I will put up that information as soon as I have more time.

I also have some updates from a peregrino who walked in January from Lisbon to Coimbra. I was hoping to be able to update the Confraternity guide before spring, but now that seems to be unlikely due to work obligations (Why does work always get in the way of the Camino?). But I will post an update page with some helpful advice that he sent me. By the way, my January pilgrim friend had a great time and highly recommends the albergue near Quinta Cardiga. I'll make sure to give more details before you leave. Bom caminho!

Tui is a lovely old town, I would highly recommend it. I dont't know about the albergue though, as I have friends in Tui I never had to use it.
