Lodging Advice for Leading a Group of 12 on the Camino? (León-Santiago)

Hello,

I have scanned previous posts but am making this query in the hope of receiving updated information.

I am an educator who will be leading a group of 10-12 college students on the Camino from León to Santiago de Compostela during the last two weeks of July.

I realize that reservations are generally not accepted at the albergues and that there is the possibility of them filling up.

Given this is the case, what can I do to be certain that my pilgrim/students will have a roof over their heads each night?

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Many private albergues do accept reservations as do small pensions or hostals. I suggest that you use a good guide to facilities along the Camino Frances as for example this on line Gronze. site and starting with Etapa 19 for Leon search each entry for what is available to book by looking for the terms Admite reserva: Sí

Thank you! I am happily surprised to see that several places do accept reservations.

Hello Pellegrino.
July is Peak saison on the Camino. There are many albergues with a capacity of only 10 to 15 beds.
I doubt that the whole group altogether will get a bed in only one albergue .

The private albergues do accept reservations and will probably ask you to follow up with a telephone call a couple of days before you are scheduled to arrive. You need to arrive by the appointed hour or they will lets the beds go.

If in doubt I would use an agent to make the bookings. I have referred many groups to the Camino Travel Centre. They speak English and are very helpful.

In Santiago de Compostella stay at the Albergue Seminario Menor. It's big, clean, has individual lockers in a dorm, or you can get a room (13 eu) per person. Large dining room and kitchen and right near a park.
