The only church we found open for services was in Silleda when we stopped on a Sunday, and the church at Taboada where mass had just finished when we rolled up, so we were able to go in and my Catholic brother-in-law could do his religious thing.

I am hoping to discover such things along the Invierno. Has anybody experienced availability of religious services along this Way?
No.
The only exception was the open church near Taboada.

The Invierno is nothing like the Francés. Brierley may have written a guidebook, but don't be deceived by that - it's pretty quiet.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms
Never experienced any services this past July and the only open church I found was in the hamlet of Montefurado (between A Rúa and Quiroga) but that's because Maribel of the Oficina de Turismo stands outside a couple of mornings a week and waves you over to give you a tour. She is a wealth of information, definitely take her up on her offer!

Almost all the churches are closed. In the larger towns, like Lalin and Chantada, they have operational churches, but no specific Masses for pilgrims or anything. And Masses might only be on Sundays, but you can check.

We’re scoping out accommodation on the Invierno, and @C clearly noticed that Pensión As Viñas is on booking. There is an annotation “new to booking.” Many of us stayed there before the albergue...
