[edit] More than 650.000 overnight stays at albergues along El Camino Frances between January and October[edit]

This number is up 14% from the last holy year in 1999. According to the local government in Galicia, their 20 albergues have been practically full since March and until the start of November.

Edited December 29th 2004, since it turned out that our source (SantiagoDigital) has it's numers mixed up. It is 650.000 overnight stays at the albergues, not 650.000 pilgrims walking el camino frances.

Camino Way Markers

Santiago Statistics

It would be interesting to have a complete set of statistics. I.e. number of pilgrims by route and countru of Origin.

Any ideas where I can obtain this info.

Correction

I have just corrected the headline of the first post. It is 650.000 overnight stays at albergues along El Camino Frances and not 650.000 pilgrims walking el Camino Frances.

The error comes from the source for this story, Santiago Digital. Read the corrected article here:
http://www.santiago-today.com/santiago_article.cfm?art_id=00171

Sorry for the confusion.

That said, I am also looking forward to seeing the stats from this years pilgrims arriving to Santiago. As far as I kow they are struggeling with their computer system and are working manually. When it is published I will post the stats on this site.
