Looking on the Web Cam yesterday, the weather in O'Cebreiro was foul. Today (Monday) there is still a lot of snow on the ground there. Anne

Of course skis must now be included. However, they must be plastic, light-weight ones [to keep that all important 'total weight carried' down] and they must also be capable of being folded into lengths not exceeding 20 cms, so they can be carried as cabin baggage with Ryanair ....

The weather forecast for Galicia predicts more snow all week, snow level 1,000 to 1,200 metres!
I can't see O Cebreira but all the mountains I can see have snow on for virtually the first time this year. Such a change in the weather since March.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Does anyone know the state of the way from St Jean to Roncesvalles? I'm looking at the forecast, and trying not to go out and panic buy heavy warm stuff!

(I am seriously contemplating buying waterproof trousers, which I had decided against. Thoughts from the experts appreciated - sensible, or just unneccessary weight?)

Thank you,

Peronel (apprehensive)

We have ponchos and waterproof trousers. They are good against windchill as well as rain. Easily removed. Otherwise it was put on all layers when we were cold 2 years ago. Two fleeces rather than a heavy jacket would be my suggestion.
Longjohns are good for the evening but I would prefer not to walk in them as you cannot remove them easily once you warm up.

Hopefully the worst of the snow will have gone soon for you
Buen Camino
