Hi, we walked through El Carrascalejo today and stopped for a coffee at the new cafe beside the municipal albergue which opened yesterday I think.

The Hospitalero Pedro gave us a tour - it looks very clean, spacious, well designed. I forgot to count the beds in the dorm but I think it was 10 (5 solid bunks) and there were two showers and two toilets each in the men's and ladies bathrooms.

Beds are €12 and they will also be offering evening meal, breakfast and laundry services.

We didn't stay as we only walked from Merida and it was too soon to stop. But I thought it was a good idea to share this for anyone planning their camino along the VDLP.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
According to the Kelly guide the albergue has 24 beds. When I passed through there the albergue was closed. I had hoped to get more water there, but even the outdoor spigot was not working. I at least rested for a few minutes on the bench by the front door in the shade.

New and closed month ago. Without cafe open useless as no services in village. Lovely albergue services 3 km up the path

Can anyone confirm whether the albergue in El Carrascalejo is open? TIA

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Thanks Laurie, I thought some who has walked the route recently might know. I'm waiting on an email back as I'm walking next year

I'm still trying to find an answer to this question...

I've been in touch with the number listed for this albergue but that person referred me to the Ayuntamiento who don't seem to have an email address that works.

So, simple question: who walked past there recently and was the albergue in Carrascalejo open?

Gerald
