As hard as it is for my to write this (being a heavy pre-planner) the most guidance you will need to receive will be from your feet and your heart!

My Fiance and I will be walking from SJPdP to Santiago in summer of 2016 as well, perhaps we will see you on the way. You are highly recommended to peruse the great knowledge found on this forum, considerable number of posts about gear, routes to walk, guides to take, foods to eat/not eat and such. Just use the search function in the top right-ish of the page and type in what you want to know about. Socks, Shoes, Poles, Bags, Food, Medicine, Camino Frances, Norte it's all here!

Hello Perigrino Mary and husband, welcome to a wonderful forum.:D

It's likely you will have many questions and have the need not to feel alone in your planning, so,,,,,,,,,

,,,,,,,,,,, may I be so bold as to point you in the direction of the Class of 2016 thread, which I suspect many of us will join after our 2015 Camino,,,,,,,,, and repeat what SY has said about the 'Search' field at the top of the page,,,,,,,,,,

wherein you will find many words of wisdom, guidance, support and,,,,,,,, contradiction:rolleyes:,,,,,

If all else fails my friend,,,,,,,,, just ask,,,,,

PS,,,,,, pass this on to everyone else on the 2016 thread;)

Buen (planning for the time being) Camino:)

Hello Mary! I am planning to walk the Camino in either May of 2016 or September. I would be interested to know if you booked your travel arrangements through an agency or if you are going to 'just go' and make your arrangements on your own schedule. I haven't decided whether I am going to use an agency or not. Any advice from other members will be most welcome. I've had input from one member... very valuable!
Mary... may this experience bring you much joy. Buen Camino.

It is the classical choice between (perceived) security versus flexibility. It is your way, why would you want somebody else to organize it? There are, imo, rare cases where this might make sense (health reasons that require a secured stay in hotels with certain amenities) but otherwise I would advocate to just enjoy the freedom of the way. Buen Camino! SY
