While on the Portuguese Coastal Camino, I rather enjoyed a Magnum Sandwich ice cream. For those who don't know what it looks like. It has a biscuit underneath, rather than a stick. When I came back home to Scotland, I thought it would be nice to have a Magnum Sandwich, which would bring back happy memories of my Camino. Unfortunately, they are nowhere to be found. Tried all the usual places.
I would imagine, there must be other things, that takes your senses back on the Camino.
Coffee, tea, croissant, tortilla !
I stopped at a cafe in Aruza guzzled down an ice cold Aquarius felt like a drunk asking for another sorta like “Hit me again!”An ice cold Aquarius...
I love Magnum ice cream bars too, and look forward to them in Spain on hot afternoons if I want a quick "pick me up" while walking, but am not yet ready to take a relaxing sit down break. Thanks to my 2012 Camino walking-mate, who introduced me to Magnum ice cream bars, I am addicted. Fortunately/unfortunately I can buy a box of 3 bars at my local grocery store...and I do that more often than I should. They are wonderful!
Kas Limon is the Best—that’s my mid-afternoon refreshing drink!!! I can’t find it in Kitchener-Waterloo.,,maybe in Toronto???If want a quick pick-me-up on camino, or one that reminds me of the camino, I would definitely prefer a Kas limon soda. I don't know if it has fewer calories than an ice-cream bar, but at least I can stop at one (I am totally addicted to ice-cream). Unfortunately, I have never seen Kas limon outside of Spain, and frequently could not find it there, where the barman on the VdlP would often pull out a Fanta and expect me to accept that instead: not a chance, too sweet and not refreshing for me.

I don't find Magnums in Illinois, unfortunately.Move to the states we have Magnums.
No Kas, more’s the pity.

No Kas, but we have plenty of ice...I love lots of ice in most any drink!
Oh yeah! Cali has the whole line if MagnumNo Magnums?
I’m pretty certain NYC and Cali have them.
I love tinto de verano made with Kas Limon. The closest substitute that I have found in the US is San Pellegrino lemon soda - it's not too sweet, or too fizzy. If want a quick pick-me-up on camino, or one that reminds me of the camino, I would definitely prefer a Kas limon soda. And never, never underestimate the significance of food and beverages for men!
I always thought that Norwegian women are decent housewives: A lways cleaning the house, cooking lovely meals, taking the dog for a walk, bringing the children to school, knitting nice and warm socks, milking the moose....And women!
... well, I am Norwegian and I'm not too sure about that - but we do make good pilgrims and we do like a drink! In my case, an ice cold albariño at the end of the day, preferably with a plate of grilled zamburiñas ... yum!I always thought that Norwegian women are decent housewives
Sounds like I’d love to dine and drink with you as well.... well, I am Norwegian and I'm not too sure about that - but we do make good pilgrims and we do like a drink! In my case, an ice cold albariño at the end of the day, preferably with a plate of grilled zamburiñas ... yum!
Magnums in Seattle, too!! Reminds me of Orisson!!No Magnums?

Massachusetts reports Magnum bar sightings in supermarkets. No Kas or Fanta Limon both of which I love in the summer. As far as Fanta Limon goes, apparently it is only produced in certain Spanish speaking countries- not sure why. Pellegrino is a good substitute and here I can get Polar Bitter Lemon if I search. While on the Portuguese Coastal Camino, I rather enjoyed a Magnum Sandwich ice cream. I did the same. And I had to buy a spoon to enjoy the puddings!I loved the chocolate puddings with whipped cream on top, 2 to a package. Since I could not refrigerate them, I ate the two in one sitting.
I brought spoons with me (and saved a couple of compostable ones I got when buying ice-creams. I only used them to carry a bee that got stuck on my leggings to the top of a flower) but the weather was too warm to indulge on caloric food. My next Camino must be on Winter.I did the same. And I had to buy a spoon to enjoy the puddings!
Lidl in the UK do a biscuit sandwich ice cream. They also do their own version of a magnum with a stick. My daughter likes them and gets very cross if I beat her to the last one:-}While on the Portuguese Coastal Camino, I rather enjoyed a Magnum Sandwich ice cream. Aaah yes, that brings back memories.........and also anywhere I could get rice pudding.
That is a very wise reply. It has made me think the Camino is made up of little things, you experience along the Way. Thank you for your thoughts. And I really like the titel of this thread: “Of little importance”.
It’s funny (amazing) how the things of little importance sometimes turn out to be the most meaningful...

I live halfway between the two...none in Illinois that I have seen!No Magnums?

One part red wine, one part lemon soda, over ice. Here in the US the soda that comes closest to the Kas Limon that they have in Spain is San Pellegrino lemon soda.Tinto de verano was my go to every day at the end of the long days walk (even if it wasn't that long). Can someone remind me what the recipe is for this deliciousness? I really must try to make this here in Canada!
