Hola everyone!
In exactly one week I leave for Spain, about to do my very first Camino, travelling on my own for the first time, and I find that I am barely able to contain myself.
I am 31, from South Africa and teaches music on a part-time basis. I switched to part-time teaching this year so that I would be able to have more time for an adventure or two. As it turns out, the Camino will be my first long distance walk. I sincerely hope there will be many more to follow...
Yes, I am doing something that has been done by SO many people before. Yes, I am not really going to leave civilization behind. Yes, in the grand scheme of things my five weeks in Spain hardly seem noteworthy. But tonight I feel like a Colombus, a Heyerdahl, a Shackleton, even like good old Bilbo. And I suppose that is the beauty of it...
I cannot wait to meet my fellow pilgrims!
