Only a week to walk

Hi everybody, I'm only going to be in Spain for a week this month, and would really love to do part of this walk as sort of a spiritual pilgrimage. From what I've read so far, it might be best for me to just do the Sarria-Santiago stretch.

If this is the case, I'm wondering how intense it is still. The rest of my trip to Europe would be difficult to haul around a sleeping bag and all of that stuff... Do I still need to pack as though this was an intense month hike even though it's only like 4 or 5 days...? Also, are there enough hotels on the way that it would allow me not to have to bring a sleeping bag/sheets...etc? I'm just trying to stay as light as possible for that week.

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

Hi Donovan,
How wonderful to have the opportunity to walk a section of the camino in the Holy Year! Most of the youth groups and students have left the camino and a friend doing a hospitalero stint reports that it is mostly mature pilgrims on the camino now. I'm sure the section from Sarria will still be busy but not frenetic as it was in August.
You could book your accommodation in hotels ahead of time so that you are assured of a place to stay. That way you won't have to join the rush for beds and can take your time between towns.
