St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms

I've just had a look at that very helpful site ' rome2rio.com

It brings up train and avanzabus.com as being about the same time. Approx 5 hrs.
Whereas I can't bring any service up on my Alsa bus app.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I would take a train. BTW, don't forget that booking your train tickets online (in the web of RENFE) well in advance you might get a heavily discounted fare.

For ticket purchase and info about trains, take a look at the web of RENFE:

http://www.renfe.com

If you want to get info about buses (e.g.: to compar that option with the train one), take a look at the web of Avanza:

http://www.avanzabus.com

P.S.: Alsa doesn't make the route between Ourense and Madrid.

The Alsa site is weird - sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Thanks so much for your responses. I too have had troubles with the Alsa and Avansa and, even the train. I've also broken the trip into parts: Salamanca or Zamora and then to Madrid. I'm quite sure it's possible, it just seem odd that I can't assure myself of a reasonable schedule to get back to Madrid. Will keep trying. Liz

What is the best transport from Ourense back to Madrid?

Bisondust, I have found a lot of options on Ourense to Madrid on the movelia.es website. This website sometimes works for me, sometimes doesn't. But putting in a request for buses for that trajectory, there was a huge number of options -- showing possible journeys with transfer points in Valladolid, Medina del Rioseco, Bembibre, Ponferrada, Astorga, Mansilla de las Mulas, or Leon.

Looks like there are lots of possibilities, it's just finding the one with the best connection times. Buen camino, Laurie

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Life is looking up! I was putting in a date too far in the future - a lesson learned years ago and now remembered. Thanks also for rio2rome - a fun site. And now to Sevilla and north. Liz

Avanza has direct buses (without transfers) from Ourense to Madrid and they are the best option if you want to make the route by bus. Movelia just sell tickets on buses of the companies that have joined Movelia and Avanza (as well as some other companies) didn't join Movelia (yet) so to book a bus ticket online with Avanza, go to their web.

Tip: if you had provided your travel date, some user could have realized that that was the problem.
