Hello. I am walking San Sebastian to Bilbao later this year. Arriol/Txiki and Perlakua Saka in Deba look very interesting to stay in. Google Maps shows a pathway from them northwards to Deba which would save a long round trip on the roads to get to Deba. Has anyone used this path? Dos it exist on the ground? Aerial on Google Maps is not clear. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
if you try google walking, you can see that the start of the dirt road from Ariola looks good, it looks good as it goes under the motorway, but where it's supposed to come out onto Osio Kalea, there is nothing. or there is a small parking lot with lots of vegetation all around. unless the road goes left beforehand and ends on Osio Kalea as a stone-paved lane at a wooden structure that looks like it could be an info board for a local path. why don't you write to Arriola Txiki and ask them?

there are also these two wikiloc trails which might help you out: https://www.wikiloc.com/walking-trails/arriola-deba-15320906 and https://www.wikiloc.com/outdoor-trails/deba-arriola-lizarreta-deba-18725959.

Elevation map shows this is really steep! What’s the best way from downtown Hondarribia up there? Then wish me luck on the Purgatorio—I am a nervous wreck.
My group of six arrives in Irun on May 20 and we're starting our Camino on May 21. Since it's the beginning of the busy season, I'm wondering if we should order trekking poles from Amazon Espana...
