Planning in Yorkshire

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
As a redhead I'm also hoping "the Camino provides" includes a clause about cloud cover?!
 Sadly not. I walked my first camino in July and August when I was much younger and had no idea what sun is (being Scottish!). Badly sunburned along the way and overheating more than once. If you are prone to sunburn then I would suggest lightweight long sleeves and trousers at least during the worst of the sun and a serious hat. Possibly even a Beau Geste kepi  Ultreia!

I was a redhead - well, actually my beard was red .. sadly silver now. Fab thing is that All redheads have about 4% Neanderthal genes/DNA, we are hybrids - and I like that thought (hybrid sounds better than mongrel ;) ).

The planning is fun isn't it - take a long handled umbrella to use as a parasol, I do that and it is really cooling and protective. Long handled otherwise you get fed up and achy from holding one arm up all the time!

Buen Camino planning!

p.s. There is no Yorkshire pudding on Camino

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Thank you both. Very good advice - and if I'm honest an increasing proportion of my red is assisted these days! Long sleeved loose shirt to cover up is definitely going in. I saw people using umbrellas in the Alps this summer, so will do some practice walks to see how I get on with one. P20 has been a revelation in terms of sunscreen for me but I need to see if I can get it en route.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hello Onboardford. I'll be about a day behind you on the path, so I'm sure our paths will cross at some point. I'm so excited!

I'm planning my Camino from SJPdP to Santiago to start around the 20th of July. I've been lurking for a while but I can now start to make this a reality. As a redhead I'm also hoping "the Camino provides" includes a clause about cloud cover?!

Is July by preference or have you no choice? I’m not especially sun-sensitive, but I still confine myself to October through March.

I'm sure they will! I'm trying to rein in my excitement so I don't drive everyone at home crazy by July!

I'm the same! My mind is buzzing with camino related thoughts and I can't believe other people are not interested! How rude! ;)

Maybe we should team up and bounce ideas off each other!

Unfortunately, unless I wait until retirement.. this is the deal 😕 and my new creed is that life is too short to put such things on hold.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

That sounds like a great idea!! My other half is walking with me... but I'm the overly excited planner!
