Hi all, due to reasons beyond my control I'm no longer able to do the part of camino de Santiago I had planned to do in August. So am walking the camino ingles instead. Have read loads of posts on here about it with lots of useful info. My question is this. Do I need to book accommodation along the way or can I do as I had intended and just go with the flow so to speak. Sorry if this has been asked before. Chears.

If you are staying in the municipal albergues you cannot book ahead in any case. If you want to use private accommodation then I would probably book a day or two in advance. Options are fewer and further apart than on the Camino Frances. If you are anxious about availability you might feel more comfortable that way.

That's brilliant thanks for the reply. I'm happy to sleep pretty much anywhere. It just seemed loads of people pre-booked and I didn't want to come unstuck so to speak. That's sorted then. Go with the flow it is. Again thanks for reply badpus

Hi,

I am planning to walk the primivito in August and am also concerned about accomodation, almost dead set not to book ahead but am quite worried i'll end up without a bed:(

May I ask why you choose the Ingles? Seeing as you are also walking in August?

Hi there.
I chose the ingles because of time constraints, plus it's a camino route in its own right and it just looks really nice. Ref accommodation I'm not that bothered I just wanted to know the lie of the land. I always carry an old army poncho and roll mat so if push comes to shove can always sleep under the stars one night.

It is a great Camino.
I don't use Albergues, if Icanhelp it; prefer small hotel / hostal for a number of reasons.
Four of us walked Mid September, last year and I or booked, mainly using Bookings.com.
Have a spreadsheet if it's of any use .
Bearing in mind it is August and falls by the sea, very often, accommodation might be a little harder to find on spec.
Campfires, possibly, but they can be choc - a Bloc, in August.

Where I stayed... public albergue

Neda (Hostel Of Neda) with kitchen(stove)
Pontedeume (Albergue Municipal de Pontedeume) no kitchen
Betanzos (Hostel Casa da Fish Betanzos) with kitchen(microwave)
Presedo (Hostel Presedo) a beautiful restaurant named Museo Meson, about 400 meters from the albergue
Hospital de Bruma (Hostel of Bruma) with kitchen(stove)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
We pre-booked accommodations for next August only because we are bringing 5 children and must find a place to stay together each night. If it was just my husband and I, I don't think I would bother. Staying in accommodations that can be reserved does add to the cost of the pilgrimage. When are you walking? We are leave Ferrol August 19 and arrive in Santiago on August 25.
Buen Camino!

Thank you all for the really helpful info, I apologise for not replying very quickly. My camino will now be the end of July due to work issues but it is finally carved in stone as they say. So Buen Camino to one and all.

We lost a set of black Leki trekking poles today between Ferrol and Neda just past the Monastario de San Martino. We sat down for a rest near the top of the hill amidst the houses. The poles were...
