Lying on my bunk in Ages municipal albergue. It's 05.30.
Half the albergue seem to have had alarms set for 05.15....and then amusingly not turn them off for a minute or so.
Now we have a symphony of plastic bags - i never knew they could make so many different noises - accompanied by a light show of headtorches worthy of a rock concert!
Why dont people take their packs downstairs to pack?
And meanwhile the snore monster remains unstirred ;)

....Takes a chill pill.....:):):) it's all part of the "experience "
The birds are singing:)

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

€83,-
Waaaayy!!! Morcilla country and Goat's milk cheesecake.
Did you stop at the bar at the Monastery where even the dogs have scowls on their faces.
This live camino thing is great - I'm living it with you Bud!

Whats wonderful waa that the lights automatically came on at 06.30. Even the snorer was awake then !!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I was there at Ages two nights ago, and you have my sympathy. I felt the problem was compounded by people returning to the dormitory quite late from the bar below. Nonetheless, the restaurant served one of the best pilgrim meals I have had so far and the breakfast was great.

It's always difficult to know how to balance these things, but as municipal albergues go, I thought it was up there with the best of the ones I've stayed at.

Early rising pilgrims with powerful headlamps that they don't seem to know how to control - part of the modern pilgrim's prayer should be that one is spared from their company in the mornings.

Doug - yes the meal was great. Am just eating breakfast - the best on the camino so far. Would happily stay here again - nice feel about the place :)

Dont know about San Bol.

@Rich1 You have a great attitude! You remind me of a South African guy I walked with who each day said, "This is the best day ever! I'm on the Camino!" - all while scratching a ton of bedbug bites and dealing with bad blisters. Nothing could faze him because he was doing what he'd dreamed of doing. Keep enjoying it all and keep us updated :)

I have a Thousand Lumen hand torch i think ill take..
I"ll show them a light show!
It lights up a fence at 100 yards and has a reflective range over a kilometer.
The room will look like aliens have invaded from outside the room.
I occasionally use it as a headlight on my vehicle...
Wanna borrow?

All the light a pilgrim really needs.

Oh, and yeah, take your pack downstairs, outside, whatever.

Simple RESPECT!

This is my idea of a flashlight!

But in all seriousness..a few lumens is nice in the darkness and isnt too bad on the night vision but the lights are subjective to the users vision needs and uses.
I get up before dawn a lot when i travel and on unfamilar terrain. A wee little light wont do.

I do hope you are joking I have a couple of this strength used when I was in law enforcement, they are great out side when no one will be blinded. But that was the purpose in bad situations. The Camino has no place for them unless you are scared of the dark :)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Last time I was in ages I slept literally at the bar sipping the 18th "Caña" ( or maybe it was the 32nd... cant really remember).

But then it was early march and the Albergue was virtually empty...

...Plastic Bags symphony scares the bejesus out of me..:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Ime with you..there is such a thing as too much!!
A little light goes a long way in sleeping quarters..

The darkness is my friend..
I work security and have to deal with car thieves and can ninja up on a person if need be by starlight.

My small light is 212 lumen and has 2 speeds and would be perfect instead of the 4 kilo beast i use at work

And use an external speaker thingy for your smartphone and have Led Zep's "Whole Lotta Love" as your alarm call sound. Play it LOUD and long.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I learned to find all of this type of behavior as simply amusing. I started to think about all of the people in the albergue who, back home, have their own bedrooms for themselves (or maybe with their significant other) now having to share a bedroom with X number of mostly strangers, all with different habits. Ya just gotta laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Then there are those other moments. I'll never forget this beautiful little German girl who was with the loose "camino family" I was seeing almost every evening in the albergues. One night she had come over to my bunk and shook me awake and as I opened my eyes with her face close to mine (because she was whispering), she said "You're snoring." And for just for a fleeting a moment . . . . . . . .
