Time of past OR future Camino
2019
In September 2019 I will be completing the Camino Frances from Burgos to Santiago ( with a visit to Finisterre) .
I am from Canada and had planned to fly in and out of the Madrid airport. What is the most practical way to travel from
Santiago to Madrid airport? The bus ride appears to be about 9 hours. I can't seem to find a train.
I'd appreciate any suggestions!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I took a train last October from Santiago to Madrid and at the train station took the "Metro" to the airport. The metro fare is included in the train fare. You need to show your train ticket and get the subway ticket. It worked well for me.

Ryanair still has tickets from SCQ to MAD for 15€. Last three Tuesdays in September seems to be the cheapest (https://www.skyscanner.net/transpor...abled=false&oym=1809&ref=home&selectedoday=11)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Do most people fly out of Santiago to Madrid? How is the cost between a flight and the train? Does the train leave Santiago 7 days a week?
I don't know. How could I?
Depends when you book your flight and when you take a train ride.
The train leaves Santiago several times a day! To different locations, not just Madrid :)

Buen Camino!

I usually fly in and out of Madrid too. I find it easy to get to Madrid from anywhere in Spain. From SDC I've usually caught the train, but I've flown to Madrid as well.

The train is about €60. Flights are very variable depending on what time of the day you travel - between €20 and €200.

I find tramline a useful booking agent for trains, it is easier to use than Renfe. For flights I go direct to the different airline websites.

I download the Renfe app onto my phone, and find it easier to use than the website. I use Paypal, because I had issues with my credit card being accepted.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
I've done both - train or plane to Madrid. I prefer the plane, but the train is ok. Get up early and get the 6.00am train if you do - half the price of ones later in the day. And book as early as you can, prices for the train change same as flights do. Buen camino.
