Sending Pack Ahead of time

Hi Everyone!

I am starting my trek in Leon and making my way to Santiago on Sept 21st. I will be traveling throughout Europe for a few weeks before that and will have a normal suit case. I am trying to find a place where I can send my pack and have them store it so I don't have to carry two bags around. I know once I start my trek, I can send my suit case to Santiago. But is there a place to store my pack UNTIL i start my journey?

Thanks for your help! :) :D

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hola -others may have more ideas but in Leon all i can think of is that you book into a hotel/hostal for the first night and arrange to send your pack there for them to keep for you.

Let us know how you resolve this please.

John

If you are going to be walking for more than 15 days, send it to the Pilgrim Helper in Santiago who will store parcels for up to 60 days and will charge about €15 - €25 depending on the size and how long it is stored.

You can take your suitcase to the post office (Correos) in Leon. Ask if they have a box large enough to put it into. Then you take a ticket from the machine and wait for your number to be called.

Address your parcel:

Pension Badalada
Att: [your name]
Xelmeriz 3
15704 Santiago de Compostela
A Coruño

If you will arrive in Santiago less than 15 days after posting your parcel, you can send it to the Post Office in Santiago: (They don't charge for storing it).

Your name
Lista de Correos,
15780 Santiago de Compostela
A Coruño

Keep the receipt for the postage and write your name as it appears in your passport as you will have to produce both when you collect your parcel.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

The pilgrim's question is how to send their rucksack to Leon in advance. They already know how to send the stuff to Santiago :)

Ohh... you are right.. sorry about that...

I guess you could send it to the Leon post office? See this posts:

There might be a limit of 14 days though (they will keep it max 14 days).

If not book a hotel in Leon, call them and ask them if you can mail your pack there..
