Future
Hi all,
I'm hoping to start the Camino for the first time in September. I will be traveling from Dublin (Irl) and hope to walk for two weeks starting from SJPP.
Can you suggest an airport to fly into and any idea how far I would get along the route in that length of time? I'm very fit and I know the 1st section is quite difficult, but I hear it's totally worth it.
Also where would you suggest I would fly out of and is it easy to get transfers to largers towns/cities along the way?

Welcome Lou, I would suggest you fly Ryanair Dublin to Biarritz. Bus to Bayonne and then train to St Jean. Depending on how fast or slow you want to walk you should get to Logrono or even Burgos. You could then bus back to Biarritz and catch the return flight. There are a few members here who are wizards on bus timetables so I will let those advise you on that.
Buen Camino.

Hi LouLouirl, As above fly into Biarritz and take bus and train to St Jean.
You will very easily get to Burgos or beyond. The Alsa bus service from Burgos can get you to Madrid, Bilbao or Santander. Not sure if they all go to Dublin but pretty sure Madrid will have flights back there. I'm not a wizard with timetables I just Google ALSA and always check bus arrival times before booking flights the bus takes me directly to Madrid Airport. I have done this 2 years ago and am going again this year. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.
I have a 2015 SEPTEMBER PILGRIMS thread so you can see who you may be travelling with and make contact if you wish. Let me know if you would like to be added to the list?
Buen camino
