Hi can anyone that has recently been on the camono say if you deffinatly need a sleeping bag or could I get away with just a lining....appreciate some guidance, thank you in advance buan camino

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
My advice on the other thread - to check the weather forecast - was based on the fact that you are leaving in a few days. Otherwise I wouldn't have suggested it.

Nobody can tell you "definitely" because everybody has different tolerance for cold when they sleep. Some people always take a sleeping bag; others never do! That's why it is also useful to try sleeping without your usual bedcovers at home. It is a very simple and practical way to test your own preferences.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Thank you, very good advice

Many albergues are unheated or only heated for a few hours before bedtime. As hospitaleros in winter we also slept in an unheated room twice for 2 plus weeks and always were glad to have our little down (1 lb) sleeping bags.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I decided to pack my '3ib' sleeping bag ...bit will definitely look into a high tog lightweight bag/quilt once home thank you for your responce

I agonized over this decision last week and in the last minute I packed my sleeping bag. I like to sleep warm and I have not regretted the decision. I haven’t used it every single night but last night it was too cold with just the liner and no blanket. I am staying at my fourth albergue and not all have blankets. It’s going to be wet and cool for the next week so I would err on the side of bringing warmer items. But of course people have different comfort levels. For me it was the right decision to bring it even though it added weight to my pack.
Hope that helps Bien camino
