I plan to start from Leon in September. I have arthritic hips and back. So although I'm trying to increase distance I think I'll only manage about 5 k a day. All tips are welcome. St Jean to Leon I did a few years ago, much fitter then!!

Delighted to read this! I don't know you but am very proud of you already! I am 80+ and riddled with deformities, infirmities ad infinitum! my comfort zone is a whole 10k per day providing I have my pacer poles, my knee supports and a good healthy load of sheer bloody mindedness in the rucksack. I now book ahead and am considering for the first time of "having my luggage transferred" ! I have to say this quietly lest the pack hear me and take the huff! We do not like to be separated! Do what you can , when you can, however you can! You are a pilgrim. Walk soft, stay safe, and vaya con Dios.
