I have no idea how I stumbled upon this little gem of an e-book but I did ok?! :D

I thought I'd share it with you all to brighten your day or just give you some food for thought on the subject of outdoor tolieting! (Im so sorry!)

It doesn't go through the etiquette of such an activity so if you do decide to take some notes then please be mindful of the consequences to others along the way.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Hi Greg.
I wonder how large a sample they used for the survey  .....but actually as someone who has to go 'off track' fairly often the results are intriguing and potentially useful.
By the way ' Wooly Lamb's ear' is the name of a plant (Stachys byzantina) just in case anyone was thinking of notifying the authorities.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I met a wonderful family who had just come back from the Himalayas with their kids. They travel a lot together as a family and I asked them if they knew of the Camino? They knew of it and knew friends who had walked the various routes, so we had a lovely, lively conversation about walks, pilgrimages and camping with kids in general. I have to say though, that the immediate response to my question on the Camino de Santiago was - "the biggest issue they have is toilets - or lack of", which, added to a blog post I came across saying "one man's lovely place to picnic is another man's toilet", then this.... I know litter and poo and leaving anything behind that wasn't there in the first place is disgraceful, and I'd like to know if the problem is growing or getting better (are WE getting better)?
I take it that this may be an old post, but I'd like some more recent feedback. Are there more toilets? Have we learned to poo properly in the woods? Do we add a camp shovel to our already weighty packs? And really.... have we become more responsible with what we leave behind?
PS I LOVE the toilet paper free expedition link. I will email it to my Himalayan hiking friends!
