On the via francigena last march. Not many signs of spring but its northern france not Spain. The Somme battlefields, then vineyards near Hermonville, France. Of the 1100 miles it is northern France and the traces of two world wars which haunt my memories the most.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I almost always walk in late autumn, when the land is being put to bed for the winter. In 2018, Easter and lambing were both early, so I was able to have a short walk in April, and loved it. The first few days on the Camino del Alba, surrounded by the sight and intoxicating scent of orange and lemon blossom, then up onto the Ruta de la Lana, quickly surrounded by blizzards of almond blossom, and the occasional improbably coloured jacaranda, quite a contrast after the heaviest snows in 50 years at home. Bliss. This pic is from near Alcalá del Júcar in Albacete province on the Lana, a glorious day of cool bright sun and thousands of almond blooms getting prepared for their eventual honourable destiny in a torta de Santiago.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
And heather in full bloom...
Your photos are amazing @Theatregal.
I especially like the storks and the decorative pink spider on the cornflower...And the potatoes of Las Medulas!
Well, OK - all of them!
Thank you :) I think it's a crab spider. She was so tiny that it wasn't until later, when looking at photos from the day, that I saw the second even tinier spider on her back. Her colour was perfect against the cornflower. I saw more colourful bugs on this camino than anywhere. One of the many exciting things about the Invierno!!

From the Sanabres early April 2018. A lovely time to walk - quite wet on some days but everything fresh and waking up. Buds just opening, people cleaning up their gardens, freshly plowed fields.

I have a sliver of hope that I will be walking the Via De La Plata starting about March 1, 2021. Even though I know this may be just a sliver of hope and my plans will almost certainly be delayed. But if there is a miracle and I can walk I will be on the Sanabres sometime in early April. I can't wait to walk in your photos! Thanks so much.

I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
I struggle with social anxiety and I was wandering if anybody with the same issue had a positive experience on the Camino walking alone. I saw lots of posts and videos people talking about forming...
