Start from Porrino to Santiago?

Camino Portuguese (interior) - May 2020
We are a group of fit middle-aged ladies planning our first Camino in May. We were trying to fit 5 days of walking from Tui to Santiago. The 2nd day ended up being too long so we were wondering if we can start from Porrino instead.

Referring to John Brierley's CP book, he has listed the Porrino to Santiago route as 103km. Would that qualify us for our Compostela if we walk from Porrino to Santiago?

Thank you.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Yes, if a starting point is more than 100km away from Santiago, is on a recognized Camino, you have a minimum of 2 stamps a day in your Credencial and you walk the Camino for religious/spiritual reasons, you will get a Compostela.

That would certainly qualify - as long as the distance tables at the pilgrims office in Santiago agree with Brierley's distances. I have a number of distance tables of the Portuguese Caminos (Brierley, Village to Village, various apps) and no two of them seem to exactly agree. This seems close enough to the 100 km mark that a different calculation could put you on the wrong side of your Compostela requirements.

Is there anyone here who has volunteered at the pilgrims office (or received a Compostela after starting at Porrino) that can confirm that the SdC authorities accept Porrino as a starting place?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I just have written to the Pilgrims Office, will tell you all the outcome when they come back to me ;-)

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

I understand, that you may start at O Porriño and then do the Spiritual Variant, you have the required 100 kms to apply for the Compostela.
Hope this helps.
