Hi All,

I would like to try the camino starting from Bilbao in September.
Is there someone who can help me to understand how to prepare in the best way?
Is it possible to walk from Bilbao to Santiago in two weeks?

I live in London if there's someone who knows about group preparation please let me know!!

Hasta pronto,

Glenda

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Google Earth gives crude great circle distance 45o km Bilbao to Santiago.

450km/14 days = 32 km per day. So assuming there is a straight path (and there is not) and assuming you are able to sustain 32 km per day for 14 days then it is possible.

I would suggest picking a starting point closer to Santiago.

I would suggest the best place to start preparing is to obtain a guide book for the route you wish to follow. I think Bilbao is on Camino Norte and there are two or three paths connecting to the more famous and easier Camino Frances. Camino del Interior Vasco connects Irun to Santo Domingo for example (even if useless for walking from Bilbao). Camino Primitivo connects Oviedo to Melida.

Hola and welcome. I would suggest that you check out the CSJ website and their guides to the Camino. If you make contact with them they may also be able to give you advice. If you become a member of CSJ they will be able to suply you with your credencial and you might find that they have a pilgrim training day arranged which fits with your proposed dates. CSJ (UK) is based in London.
There is also so much advice and help here that will help you too.
The CSJ guides are listed under 'Bookshop' -> Pilgrim guides->the 'Pilgrim guides to Spain'; Ruta de la Costa - two for the Norte and a third which covers the Primitivo itself.
