Via Francigena, Ramsgate,Canterbury ,England to Rome,

Hi everyone

I'm Joe, and intend starting from Lourdes on the morning of 11th September
-my 60th Birthday !

I've booked my tickets from home in Derbyshire,England to Lourdes,
although not booked any accommodation anywhere (yet ?)

I intend firstly travelling along the signed route, along the Piemonte way,
to SJPP, then completing the Camino Frances to Santiago
-I've no time restraints, so will take everything as it comes..

I've never done the Camino, have thought about it for a few years,
and decided to give myself a Birthday to remember:D

So, am busily getting used to walking longer distances,
next stage getting and carrying all clothes etc,
and then ?

Have already enjoyed reading everyone's great advice,
and wish I could go...today !

Hi Joe,
What a wonderful 60th birthday present to yourself. I did something similar for my 60th though not nearly as strenuous (solo trip to the Azores for 3 weeks to get in touch with my Portuguese roots). Anyhow, my husband and I will be leaving SJPP on September 12th just one day after you start your journey. Not sure how long it takes to get from Lourdes to St. Jean, but perhaps you will catch up to us somewhere along the route. If not have a very Happy 60th and have a "Buen Camino"

Thanks for your Good wishes
I think I'll be about a week behind you,
so may not/may see you
In any event have a 'Buen Camino' yourselves

Joe

New user here. Hello to you all. New to the forum but not to the Camino. I was told about this Forum whilst I walking the lovely scenic 'Camino Norte'. I'm planning walking another in June.
Hi, A couple years ago I flew into Geneva and took a train to Laussane to begin my Francigena. Next year I would like to fly into Geneva and walk the south side - France into Aigle, Switzerland...
I am 29 doing the Frances by myself starting in SJPdP next week. I didn’t realize this was a busiest time to do the Frances so I am really nervous about the bed race. I don’t mind socializing or...
