Time of past OR future Camino
August, 2016
I had planned on starting my Camino on 28 August. Now, I may need to be at a function in the states on 1 Oct, so am debating about starting on 12 August. Can you help me sort out the pros and cons? I really would like to make the earlier time in August work, but am hesitant due to crowds and weather. Thank you.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

In my opinion if you start around the 15th of August it may be crowed at the beginning of your journey and thin out at the end. The last time I walked the Camino I started out on 8/24/13 and finished 9/30/13. The weather was great until we got into Galicia. After arriving in Gonzo we experienced rain, thunder and lightening. We are hoping to go back this year again around the same time. Buen Camino.

A familiar tale!

If you start on the 28th August it would be very tight - but then you might be young, fit and able to leap over mountains in a single bound (unlike me: old, fat and a plodder). You do NOT want to rush it - if you're coming all the way over from the US make the most of your trip.

I'm sure it will be busy in August (LOTS of Spanish college kids) but I'm equally sure you'll find somewhere to lay your head - perhaps break the journey up and don't stay in the "key" stops - there are so many more places to stay between them nowadays.

We leave Pamplona on the 15th - see you on the road!

Buen Camino
