Staying Balanced in Winter

KyleJ

Hello,

I'm looking to start walking on March 1 of 2012, and though there are lots of posts about the wonderful fruits available in the summertime, is there much produce to be found in winter and early spring, whether dried, preserved, etc? If so, where are good places to find it? If not, what would you suggest for keeping up on vitamins and such?

Buen Camino,
Kyle

Awesome. Are they scattered along the way, or is each town most likely to have one? I guess the other question here is, how much does one have to stock up at each store?

Depends on where you are walking, and how exotic your taste is.
If you want dried kumquats or cranberries, you might be SOL. But if you like dates, prunes, apricots, etc., you can get those in just about any market town. No need to stock up, really. Not even any real need to carry them. There is plenty of fresh fruit, year-round, in the little markets in almost any town along the trail. Southern Spain is a major producer of fresh produce for the rest of Europe, you know. Sadly, many pilgrims complain about the lack of fresh veg and fruit... which is widely available in stores and markets just a few steps off the trail.
