Staying longer in one town

as I understand it albergues do not allow you to stay more than one night. My question is if you decide to spend more time in one town are you able to move to another albergue. I know hotels are available but if you want to check into another albergue with your passport and the last stamp shows another in the same town is that a problem?

Shouldn't be a problem, especially in private albergues.

When staying in the same town more than 1 night, we did find it more convenient to stay in a hotel or casa rural, just for the fact that you then don't have to carry your stuff around with you between leaving the 1st alberque and being able to check into the 2nd.

Or for a lower cost a private hostel that has lockers. I stayed in Hostel León for two nights, and was able to leave my backpack in a locker there.

If it not high season, you may be able to stay at albergue a second night. As the hospies.

I never stayed anywhere but Santiago & Madrid for more than 1 night, but it would be interesting I think to slow down and move to other alburgues in the larger cities, just due to the area's have such various neighborhoods.

In my experience in April 2016, staying more than one night at the same gite was never an issue.

The first ocaasion was at Petite Lumiere, Moissac. I had been on the way for two weeks and needed to do something different for one day. The first night the gite was full, with many countries represented and our hostess did us proud. It was also a farewell to a mother and daughter I had first encountered on arrival at Le Puy.

The second occassion was nearly a week later. I was having trouble with circulation in the right foot caused by shoe laces and wanted a medical opinion. Euaze was the town and Marie-France mine hostess of the first water. She made sure I saw a doctor, gave me two dinners and on the third day drove me onto the next town about 10km on.

And, yes, both were private gite.

In September this year, I stayed in Pamplona and Estella for 2 nights each. I booked ahead at the Aloha Albergue in Pamplona for 2 nights and in Estella I stayed at the Hermanos Capuchinos Rocamador where I asked for the second night when I arrived. Aloha in Pamplona was a private albergue and a great place to stay. Rocamador in Estella was a monastery hostel that took reservations. It was very clean and comfortable, with sheets and quilts!
