Taxi availability on Easter Saturday

Hi Peregrinos :)

Returning to the Camino again next year with my teens this time and considering a week over actual Easter, or the week after Easter. Just wondering if we go during the Easter option and need to book a taxi from an albergue wherever we end up (Estella ish), does anyone know, if taxi drivers will be working on Easter Saturday to get us back up to Biarritz to catch our flight home later that day? Would be terrible to get stuck!!!! ;)

Buen camino.

Easter/Holy Saturday isn't a public holiday as such in Spain, but people might make a "puente" aka bridge to take a long weekend of. BUT as the recession is still bad in Spain taxi drivers will most likely be happy to get such a valuable gig ;-) I would suggest that you try to book your taxi well in advance or even rent a car to the border or try blablacar. Buen Camino, SY

Thanks so much for your reply, very helpful. We won't be able to book it in advance as we've no idea where we'll get to with the walking. In a group of 4 or 5 so it's an unknown as to where'll we'll get to with teens and various fitness levels.

Estellesa provides bus service between Logrono and Pamplona.

Estellesa provides bus service from Estella to San Sebastian and Irun with stops at the bridge at the border ... a stones throw from Gare d'Hendaye ... and at Irun Renfe Station.

Transports64 bus #816 runs hourly from Gare d'Hendaye (and some from Irun Renfe Station) to Biarritz Airport.

If the Estellesa to Irun connection doesn't work for you try ALSA bus from Pamplona to San Sebastian.

ALSA and PESA operate buses from Donostia/San Sebastian to Biarritz Airport. Else take Renfe Cercanias from San Sebastian to Irun Renfe Station.

Schedules won't be available more than 30 days in advance but you can try and figure a schedule out using the 'holiday' schedule available on the existing schedule.

Its Easter weekend. Spain takes its holidays seriously. Book everything in advance if you can.

You might even try booking with Express Bourricot, a private hire taxi based in SJPdP.

With in advance I meant - a few days into the trail/Camino when you have a better idea where you will end it. Buen Camino, SY
