I just happened upon staying at this albergue in Caldas de Reis that has the most beautiful stamp. They only issue the stamp for those staying at the Albergue Albor. I’ve never seen anything so touching. It is fresh flowers sealed in wax.

It will get flattened and dried, like pressed flowers in a book. I hope the wax makes it! My pilgrim’s credential is even more precious now!

Take care when getting subsequent sellos. Those wax seals are fairly robust, but they don’t like being hit by an enthusiastic sello stamper’s stamp.

Divine - the one I got in Alvaiazere is awesome too - it has a cross sealed in the wax.

It is very beautiful but only available to those staying in the albergue. Signs at the premises make it clear they will not be receptive to requests from others passing by

Having walked the Camino Frances from SJPP to Sanitago, I know there are many cafes/bars along the way. However I’ve read those facilities are not readily available on the Camino Portuguese until you reach Porto. Is that info correct? Would appreciate knowing if that’s still the situation.

Hi Mary Ellen. I walked from Tomar to Coimbra, a very pretty part, and found enough cafes/bars for most of it but certainly not as many as past Porto. Consult a guide book or gronze.com to be prepared.

I started in Lisbon in December and even in the winter every bar/hotelhad a stamp for us

Not sure of the question. There ARE many, many cafés/bars all along the way, for sure. Probably still not all that common for them to have peregrino stamps in the southern Lisbon>>Porto half. But a lot of the small communities along the caminho are embracing it wholeheartedly.
