Hola friends,
I am staying some days in Santiago. It's my second time so I already did a lot of things there. Normally I am relaxing the whole day in the parks and old town, eating my own lunch stuff. Now there will be rain the next days and I am searching for locations where I can read , relax, and bringing my own eating stuff with me. It's not possible in a Café right?
I just need a roof and maybe some heat :)
Do you have any tips for me ? Or any good low costs café/bars where I can stay some hours? I am a young study girl.

Thank you!!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

One spot where you can sit forever near the cathedral is the Cafe Casino, 35 rua del Vilar. It has existed since 1873. Open from 9am to after midnight they do breakfast, drinks and simple meals. The comfy upholstered chairs and old-fashioned decor (but upgraded with WiFi) reminds me of the old Algonquin in NYC when I was much younger. You can happily sit in the Casino while nursing a drink for hours watching the world go by or writing.

Thank your for your first answers!
@falcon269 Do you mean the cafeteria or the salon de peregrino? I only went right now to the cafeteria but not to the salon. Is it behind the reception?
Was feeling a little mystery in front of the reception :-D

Thanks @Kanga for recommending Pilgrim House - you beat me to it! Yes, Anna, you're very welcome to come visit us today! We're open until 8pm and we have quiet spaces where you can read, and a kitchenette where you can prepare your own food. We're located close to the Cathedral, at Rua Nova, 19. Maybe we'll see you soon!! And - Cafe Casino and San Martin Pinario are also great spaces as well. Take care.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Ah yes, The Algonquin and the likes of Dorothy Parker, et al - my favourite era for writers and clothes.

Visit the Ciudade de Cultura and spend some time in the beautiful library there.

Hello Faith, didn't we meet at the Pilgrims' House for the Christmas Party last year? Its such a lovely place to be, the House. I will be arriving in The Holy City on Sunday, 20 March 2016. I'm in Germany now, spending a great week with a Camino sister and her loving husband. I will drop by before I head off where The Holy Spirit guides me. Please say hello to all the beautiful people who make this haven possible. Peace be with you. Buen Camino :), Caesar

LaufAnna, I will arrive in Santiago on Sunday, 20 March 2016 at 8.30 pm in the airport. Maybe we can meet at the Mass? Buen Camino :), Caesar

Even if you are not staying there, San Martin de Pinario has a very nice lounge. I doubt they will notice or care if you rest and eat there.
Falcon, they will NOT mind. The staff are so dedicated and kind. Always there "to serve". I've spent a lot of time there, have stayed there, have eaten there. Its wonderful. And only a few steps away from the Cathedral. Buen Camino, :) Caesar

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
