Walked in 2010 from Sarria. I plan to walk again this year from Sarria too.
Hi!

I was wondering if anyone knew what the best/cheapest route was from Toronto to Sarria?

Thanks

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Closest airport to Sarria is Santiago Labacolla SCQ
http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite/Aeropuerto-Santiago/es/

Note the destinations link to find a major airport that connects to Toronto. Toronto to ... say Madrid ... Madrid to Santiago using a discount airline like Ryan Air.

Take Empresa Freire bus from Labacolla airport to Lugo and Monbus from Lugo to Sarria.

Renfe train connects Madrid to Monforte de Lemos and onward to Sarria. There is Monbus service from Monforte de Lemos to Sarria if the train connection is long.

Airline options increase if you want to look at Aena websites for airports at A Coruna and Vigo.

It's difficult to say which one will be the cheapest on a specific travel date. An option to consider would be:

  • Air transat from Toronto to Porto.
  • Bus from Porto to Santiago de Compostela with Alsa (www.alsa.es/en)
  • Bus from Santiago de Compostela to Sarria with www.monbus.es (or if it doesn't run on your travel date, bus from Santiago de Compostela to Lugo -with www.empresafreire.com- and another one from Lugo to Sarria with MonbĂşs)
