Hello all
I have booked my flight from London to Biarritz on 9th of May. I will be arriving at about 6pm with Ryan Air. As this is my first Camino I would like some advice in regards to train/bus or taxi options to SJPdP. I am wondering if there is no public transport how much a taxi may be or if it is best to stay in Bayonne for the night. Any suggestions are welcome. It would help me to know when to book a place at Orrison. Many thanks in advance for any advice /suggestions. Feeling quite excited about it all

Many thanks
Bueno Camino

You might take the airport Chronoplus bus 14 from Biarritz airport to the Bayonne railroad station ( Bayonne Gare SNCF)

The train for SJPdP leaves from Bayonne. It is a TER local train line 62. Saint Jean Pied de Port is the last stop.

Journey time is roughly 1 hour. You can buy the ticket in the station either from a live agent or via a card machine. There are no reserved seats on the TER so prior booking is not necessary. For more info see this TER web in French

Bon voyage and Buen camino!

It appears you will have missed the last train to StJdP. The TER timetable is showing a last departure at 18:06. I'm sure there was a later train but nothing scheduled at present.

Many members have recommended an excellent and inexpensive Hostal just across the road from the rail station the name of which completely escapes me at present. Someone will post. You could then catch the 07:45 to St Jean in the morning.

Happy planning

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Best option is to stay at Bayonne and catch the AM train to SJPdP.

A viable alternative is Express Bourricot which operates a private hire taxi that caters to Pilgrims and is based in SJPdP. Cost depends on the number of passengers you end up sharing with.

Hi Elke, my daughter and I are getting in to Biarritz on the 11th of May. I booked with Express Bouricott and they were able to fill the bus costing us 19 euros each. They pick you up from the airport and take you to SJPDP. I'm not sure what time the latest run is but I recommend checking it out.
Buen Camino!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
