I am flying into Madrid, probably March 24th and need to be near Sahagun on March 31st for my hospitalera shift. I am finding difficulty in getting bus/train transport on that route.
So it looks like my options are:
Bus or train to Leon and walk back to Sahagun
Bus up to Medina Rioseco and walk a few days
Bus to Fromista and walk a few days
I can't find a bus from Madrid to Sahagun but I can find one that runs Sahagun to Madrid...
Any suggestions for further search?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Rome2Rio says that Alsa run a bus service and it takes 3h45m. Not sure if it is on the date you require.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

There appears to be a daily train from Madrid to Sahagun. Looks like the bus only runs once a week.
But if you go to Medina de Rioseco, it is a lovely city and the walk from there along the canal is beautiful
Oh, that sounds good!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
We walked the Madrid and tooked the train back from Sahagun to Madrid. Depends when you will leave orherwise best to make a reservation. Seats are nummered.

Checkout thetrainline.com...bus to Leon several times a day from Moncloa. Then xfer to train to Sahagun.

Trains are not coming up in the search because there's only one direct train from Madrid to Sahagun and it arrives at midnight. There are several daily trains, but you have to change in Valladolid or Palencia. Several buses each day from Palencia to Sahagun.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I have travelled this route in both directions recently. As @Rebekah Scott said in the prior post look for Madrid - Palencia and Palencia - Sahagún. Or the same using Valladolid.

Not sure what happens when you purchase your train ticket in the RENFE app but I bought my ticket from the station and got a single price ticket with two legs to it. The platform for the connecting leg is well signposted and there is plenty of time between legs.
