Tunnel Route.

Hello All !
I am walking the Camino in July this year.
It is my intention to walk the tunnel route, but it seems that this is not a very popular way to start, and very few people seem to post any expieriences of this route.
Is there a reason for this ?
Also, is anyone able to give advice on secure car parking in the Hendaya area?
And finally, has anyone ever walked the Camino with a Dog. ......she's my best friend ! I understand that I would not be able to stay in the Aubergues, but would I be able to eat, and socialise there.....do any have land where we could lay our heads for the night ?

hi there Paul!

I am going to walk the Tunnel Route/ Camino Vasco del Interieur starting this coming Friday or perhaps Saturday (there is a general strike in Spain March 29 so I might have to reroute my flights to San Sebastian).

Why not popular? Maybe because there is no pilgrim infrastructure not like on the Frances for instance. CSJ guide says:
¨While these ((albergues)) exist in several towns, they were not provided primarily for the use
of pilgrims. They are akin to the English Youth Hostel and are often prebooked
for parties of children on organised activity outings. You are advised to
telephone, prior to the day of arrival, to explain your situation as a Santiago
pilgrim and, hopefully, attempts will be made to find accommodation for you.¨

It is wellmarked though.

Hi Annie,
Thanks for your post.
So I guess the Tunnel route will be a quiete option then.....and this will be good for me, particularly as my time restraints only give me July in which to walk.....a busy time maybe.
I'm not so bothered about places to stay, but once I join up with the Frances, I would like to stay in a couple, just so I can meet people and expierince the cross section of people I imagine will be met.
Please do let me know how you go; I will wish you a happy, peacefull Camino.
