update on the need for a sleeping bag

Looking for current info from someone walking now about whether or not the albergues are warm enough for a very light sleeping bag (55F) and or provide good blankets for sleeping. Trying hard to reduce pack weight for a walk on the Camino Frances beginning 19 March.

In another thread on blankets in albergues, only a few municipal albergues do not seem to have blankets. Plan on finding a blanket in your albergue.

Many Albergue don't keep the blankets on the beds or in the dorms, if you don't see them ask

If you feel the cold take the bag. There are places without blankets and where there are blankets some of them might not be as thick as others. It all depends on whether you feel the cold or not.

Would reccomend a light weight sleeping bag if you are going in summer. The nights are warm, and you won't need much. And if it is cold, many have blankets to borrow as well.
A light weight sleeping back only puts you back about 1kg, so worth the weight for a good nights sleep

We were there the last week in April and all we used was a sleeping bag liner. All the Albergues had blankets.

Only one Albergue I stayed in did not have blankets. In fact I used my sleeping bag as a blanket and not as originally intended as it was so warm at night.

I am walking now and am very glad I brought my Western Mountaineering sleeping bag. It weighs only ~800grams. It is also the most comfortable thing I own (full goose down). I tend to get cold at night so I've been glad to have it, since it's been abnormally cold until a couple days ago. I'm sure liner + albergue blankets would have been fine, but frankly it's just nice to have my "own bed" every night.

My humble recommendation is to go with whatever will help you sleep best, regardless of weight (within reason). Everyone mentions the importance of staying dry and staying warm but not enough people emphasize the importance of getting quality sleep and keeping up your immunity when you are walking 15-20 miles/day and constantly exposed to lots of other people.
