VDLP, The Return

A little over a year after we had to stop the VDLP in Alcuescar because of a fall I had, which turned out to be bad.
We are flying this evening to Madrid. Will pick up a train to Salamanca, two nights there, then a bus to Alcuescar. We'll start walking from Alcuescar next Saturday morning (si Dios quiere y la Virgen lo permite.)
No idea how long and until when and where. One day at a time :)

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
Hi, Grilly,

May the second time be the charm. I can really empathize because on my first Vdlp I had to stop in Caceres. The second time, the stars aligned and I was able to walk Sevilla-Santiago.

I don't know if you will be spending time in Alcuescar, or if you are a fan of ancient churches, but if you arrive in Alcuescar and feel like a warm-up walk, there is a wonderful 7 km or so round trip walk from the town hall to the visigothic church of Santa Maria de Trampal. I absolutely loved it.

The route is very well marked, on the side of a country road all the way, but it's lovely and has no traffic. I described it here: camino-mozarabe-and-via-de-la-plata/topic8965.html

More info on the church: http://www.turismo-prerromanico.es/arte ... pficha.htm

And of course google images can give you a preview! Buen camino, keep in touch, Laurie
