I plan on walking the Camino de Invierno in June. I use a single walking stick on my Camino walks, but it is almost impossible to bring one with me on the plane. Does if anyone know if there is a outdoor store in Ponferrada where I might buy one .

Yes. Go across the river to the new part of town, and there are several outdoor equipment stores. Lots of stores will have Camino walking sticks and shells.
 
Thanks for the information. I will be taking a bus into the new part of town and will scout one of stores out before crossing the river into old town.
