Weirdest/Strangest item someone has taken on the Camino

I always carry a knit black dress and pair of flats. On my first Camino, I arrived exhausted in Roncevalles, took a shower and put my “dinner outfit” on. Walking into the dining room, I felt many “not a real pilgrim” side eye stares that made me flinch. I still always carry a black dress/flats with me (always visiting a different European city before/after walking) but don’t wear it to pilgrim dinners!

I always wear dresses on the Camino, one if which is a black knit dress. I'm really not concerned who thinks I'm a pilgrim or not.😊

I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
Can anyone tell me if food is available there… anyone stayed recently? Cheers
If you’re walking the Camino Portugues right now I’d recommend you avoid the complementario route into Pontevedra. While it is quiet and green and follows the river, it’s also a muddy mess. I...
