What story or moment do you remember as defining your Camino

Curious what past pilgrims have returned from the Camino with as the story or moment that stuck out to them most, defined their Camino journey or became the most vivid memory. Since it's such a personal trip I imagine the depth and breadth of possible responses are endless. Would love to hear some of yours.

Remembering the Camino for me,started when I was back home and relived my memories and photos,re thinking LIFE and my contribution towards it.the Camino is about allowing each person in life a place in the sun,treating your fellow human being with respect,caring about oneanother.The Camino also reminded me to take care about the environment,nature,wild life and our animals.The Camino is about caring and love your neighbour.Buen Camino=Johann Pretorius from South Africa

Reaching Santiago, seeing our dear and lovely friends, plus people we thought we'd never see again, and realising that " the camino family" is a truly special phenomomen ! The look of joy,openness and light on everyone's faces , the smiles and the tears of joy .
I love looking at the photos from that day.

Kind of like fortview said..... being in Santiago was an amazing experience; seeing almost EVERYONE I had met along the way- some of whom I had not seen in weeks. Just the joy of knowing what I had accomplished and my own satisfaction. Thinking about it all after coming home I view it kind of like what they say about childbirth- the end result is so wonderful that you don't even remember the hardships or pain along the way

When I took the time to slow down, sit with someone, and truly listen, I heard the most amazing - moving, touching, inspiring - stories of what people were dealing with in their lives and what brought them to the Camino.

When I took the time to slow down, sit with someone, and truly listen, I heard the most amazing - moving, touching, inspiring - stories of what people were dealing with in their lives and what brought them to the Camino.

One day on the Camino I met four women walking. They ranged in age from young 20s to perhaps 60s. I only had them in sight for about 20 minutes and our only communication was a smile and a wave.

The following day was not a good one for me. I had a very painful foot and even considered stopping my Camino but fortunately I was able to walk through the pain. On that day, I missed a sign and went the wrong way. I walked a couple of miles down a very steep roadway before I figured out I was lost. I was nearly brought to tears knowing it would be very difficult if not impossible for me to walk back up considering my bad foot. Out of no where comes a small car with the four women in it. They pulled over and asked if I was lost because this road was not on the Camino. Yes, I said. They made room for me in the car and drove me back to where I lost my trail so I could begin it anew.

They disappeared right afterward, never to be seen by me again. I believe they were my angels

Without hesitation, walking into Plaza do Obradeiro to the sound of Galician pipes (busker) with tears streaming down my face.

I also had these moments too where in a mystical coincidence the way was laid out for me.

On my second Camino, my feet were a blistered mess. A doctor, walking with a group of french ladies, told me I needed to take a 3 day rest to let everything dry up. As the Camino would have it, the french ladies were travelling with a car that carried their suitcases. They offered me a 3 day ride in their car.
