Which Route from Lisbon?

Time of past OR future Camino
May/June 2016 Camino Frances
September (2017) First stage of Camino Portugués
Hi everyone. My wife and I are planning to set off from Lisbon on September 2 this year. We plan to walk to Porto on this, trip, and then return next Spring to walk Porto to Santiago.
I walked the Camino Frances last May and that was pretty straightforward with no major route variations; Camino Portuguese seems to have many route options.
I would be grateful for any advice on which route,to take or any pros or cons of the different routes. We don't plan on camping, but will stay in albergues or pensions etc.
That's in advance X:)

I should say read about the experiences of the forummembers here .
95% of the posts are about the Central (common ) route from Lisbon via Santarèm, Tomar ,Coimbra to Porto.
A few walked the coastal from Lisbon/ Estoril/Cascais Sintra Alcobaça etc to Porto.
I know something about the area but did not walk that part.
I only have experienced the Central route and love it.

Hi Frank
I'm leaving Lisbon April 1st. I like the idea of heading off up the coast, but I hear reports of regular strong onshore winds making for unpleasant conditions. Don't know how much credence I should give this so at this stage I intend to proceed coastwise then changing my route if these winds eventuate.
I'll probly need to bus or taxi about anyway to see sights that I would otherwise miss.
Regards and Bom Caminho

The "coastal" from Lisbon actually does not follow the fysical coast but heads northwards more inland.
The real coast you'll face first leaving Porto.

Thanks Albertinho.
But this time I just feel like wandering, not going on a predetermined trail. And I feel like starting with a bit of coastal. I'll probly head off into the wild blue yonder with just a little preparation.
