Forgive ignorance...I want to buy a cheap basic pay as you go mobile phone in France, and the swap the SIM for a Spanish one when I cross into Spain. Would the French mobile be locked into any service provider? Vodafone doesn't operate in France. And what is the French for "pay as you go"? Thanks in advance for answers.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

I recommend you try a local place like Carphone Warehouse and buy a cheap basic unlocked SIM free phone and bring it with you, that way, you'll know it's not locked to any service provider and you'll be able to swap SIM cards.

I believe that in Spain, unlike the UK you have to be a resident and have a Spanish address to register the sim card.

Not true, all they need to see is your passport.
