Le Puy to Santiago de Compostela in summer 2014 (Late June- early July)
Hi all! I am 19yr old traveling from UK London to Lyon which from there will be taking a train to Le Puy destination.
I am 100% confident of my chosen route from Le Puy to Santiago as I am in love with the comments and reviews. I will be taking a tent with a sleeping bag with me as I have red a lot of mixed comments on bed bugs and snoring noises (as I love my sleep). Please tell me more about your experience with camping on the way! Wondered if you have any tip for me as I am a first time hiker for such a long time (2 1/2- 3months).
Plus if anyone is starting of at that time too would be interested in getting in touch!! :))

Thank you fellow pilgrims! :):):)

very few camp out on the trail. It can be quite lonely. You will need the services hostels provide like shower, cooking, washing and you will be charged for that.
Plus the extra weight: 1.5 kg tent. 1 kg sleeping bag, 0.5 sleeping pad. 1 kg cooking gear.
Plus- you won't be able to leave your tent unatended while you tour the village with your friends.

Hi Auste, I'm Vincent (from Ireland)will be walking Le Puy route also at around the same time as you (17th july), flying into Paris and then getting train to Le puy via Lyon. Basically have the same kind of idea as yourself, although thinking of mixing it up between the camping and using the gites where need/want (basically let the road lead the way and see what happens). from what i have read so far in different places camping is an option but as Zammy has said extra weight added and having to pack it up when looking to go around to view things. Although partially assume (maybe naively) and have read of camp sites at some areas along the way. will need the tent either way as planning travelling bit more around when finished :)

Would also be grateful of any advice other more seasoned pilgrims could offer about this route, Many thanks :)
