On noisy idiots, new year's resolutions and a happy 2017

I decided on a small walk this afternoon, so I took the bus to a neighbouring village and walked back home along the river. Normally a very quiet route, about 7 kilometers and quite beautiful, especially with the fog today.
But alas, because fireworks are still a big thing here in Holland, I heard all sorts of bangs and explosions roll across the landscape. Noisy idiots, I grumbled, and my mood took a dive for the worse the first 20 minutes in.
I'm big on silence you know, and I tend to get rather edgy when I don't get enough of it. Thankfully, after about the aforementioned 20 minutes, I started to mellow out of my cantankerous frame of mind. Reminisced about some fun noisy evenings on the camino, thought fondly of my wife who can be quite the noisy extravert.
So I decided to put up with it, enjoy myself anyway and suddenly remembered a picture I saw recently. Something to do with rules for a happy life. And as we are rapidly approaching the end of 2016, maybe some nice and original new year's resolutions for 2017.
Anyway, I found the picture and decided to post it. I also decided to be a bit of a noisy idiot myself, tonight at a friends party. Practise makes perfect, and it'll be a nice change of pace. Who knows, maybe I'll get the hang of it one day.
Have a good one everybody!

Happy New Year in Holland you are closer to it than I am in Los Angeles, California.
Buen caminos to you in your new year!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello all. Here to give a brief account of my (and many others) first day on the Camino on May 1. The trip to Roncesvalles was tough. I went Valcarlos route because napoleon was very ill advised...

I am wondering how you disconnect, in part, from the world. I have a couple of reasons that I need to be accessible but, I don't want to be constantly connected on this journey. Ideas?
Money stolen from bag on bed while sleeping. Estelle municipal hostel. Not a big inconvenience as my passport and credit cards were left.
