Some but not all, and other routes too.
A few days ago I went out for a short walk and because of the snow and ice took my Leki poles with me.Before anyone in the UK says I shouldn't have gone out in the "beast from the East" I'm now fully aware of how stupid I was.
Managed to get to my destination but on the way back took a few tumbles on the ice, it wasn't until the next day that I realised how bruised I was. But the main thing was I had bent the lower section of one of the poles, this hurt me more than the bruises. Anyone who has Leki poles will know they're not a cheap item and in the UK you can only buy them in pairs.
After a bit of inter web searching on the computermebob I found out that Leki do spares, as we speak I have the lower section winging its way to my local Walking Gear shop.
I guess the moral to this story is, don't go out in dangerous weather and if you do make sure your gear is good quality and you can get spares.

The most important thing I've learn't is that I won't be doing a winter camino anytime soon.
Sorry for the ramble.

Don't be sorry. Poor you! I waited till Saturday, after 3 days in jail, and like you, I took my poles. So glad you didn't injure yourself apart from bruises, and that your injured pole can be mended.

Sorry to hear of your injuries and your broken pole. at least you didn't go out in that weather in a motor car. Could have been a lot worse.
During icy conditions I use my Yaktrax.(Snow grips for shoes) They have never let me down yet. Just gives you a little bit more confidence.
I hope you heal soon. Take care.

Talking about pent poles - many years ago I was rambling along the north coast of Brittany, not on a path but amongst the rocks. I fell and found myself lying on my back in the hollow on top of a rock - pack in the hollow and legs in the air like a tortoise on its back - you see the picture. After I had undone my pack and got back on my feet I found the lower part of one of my poles was severely bent. I bent it back over my knee and it became almost straight, straight enough to “telescope” back into place and I continued using it for many years. The only reminder of the episode was a tiny bulge where eventually the paint was scraped off by “telescoping” the pole many times over the many years....
