My picture is of the front, but it could be Las Angustias in Cacabelos.View attachment 76508
Nope, definitely not the one. Compare photos in posts no.1 & 4 with yours, especially the bell tower. Also I don't remember any pedestrian street crossing in Sta.Catalina on the main drag where the church is situated :)

Brain fart, Kinky.

I knew the name (my first car was a Catalina) but my fingers knew another name and my brain was too busy farting to notice the error. It has been happening a lot more lately when I write (or is that right? I'm so confused. o_O)
Well, Rick, should I ask Peg who's Caterina then??? ;)

Rick - just remember not to follow through!!!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Yep, that is Santa Catalina de Somoza.. just bought a place there and working on renovations...look out for it in the next couple of years...it will be pilgrim friendly w/spa... also know this village is one of many that make up the Maragateria and the church name is Iglesia parroquial de Santa Maria - it is said that it holds a relic of San Blas

From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
Oh I just remembered that I stayed there if I’m remembering correctly. It’s very tiny right? Maybe two albergues and a little bakery? I was there in 2018, I’m in the process of walking back to SJPdP but was unable to travel last year. :/. Best of luck in your new venture!

its between Murias de Rechivaldo and El Ganso ,no bakery as of this writing..there is also one hotel in this village

Only negative experience I had on the Camino Frances in 2019 was in Santa Catalina. Stayed at the first albergue which is on the right as you enter the town. It was nice, but not very friendly. After dinner I asked if they were going to show the Champions League final on the tv. There was a definitive NO. I went to the albergue just down the way on the left side of the street. They had the game on in the bar, but the door was blocked and I was told that the game was for locals only, no pilgrims. Guess they did not like that the Spanish clubs had been eliminated.
I left first thing in the morning and stopped in El Ganso at the little store in the front of a house (I think it was yellow). The coffee was good and the store was well stocked with fresh fruit and things a pilgrim would need. Also, the proprietor was very friendly.

so sorry you had that experience.... When we open in a couple of years, we will always be there for pilgrims.. keep an eye out for us...
