This brings back happy memories because I started walking my first Camino from St. Jean Pied de Port on my 63rd birthday on 25th August 2014. It was one of the best things I have ever done in my life and I’ve been hooked ever since. I hope you both have another wonderful Camino 😊

Enjoy... I'll be a week ahead of you... Starting from

Thanks for your kind wishes. This will be my 3rd time & my wife’s 2nd so I understand how addictive it can be. We have done the route from le puy and the via Francigena through Italy but nothing compares to the CF.

Doing part of the French route, then volunteering with I'll push you from Saria to Santiago, trying to find passage from Plampona to St Jean's suggestions?
Alsa has a daily bus. Leaves Pamplona at 2:15ish. I’m taking it on 6/21, I’ll get more details then.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Enjoy... I'll be a week ahead of you... Starting from Saint Jean on August 17th.
I'm wondering if you are worried about accommodation. I am starting from Roncevalles August 4. I'm so happy to finally be going, but there seems to be very little accommodation available. Normally I'd prefer not to book, but during Covid it seems advisable. This is my first Camino. Do you think there will be enough places to stay?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Personally, I would book the first stretch from Roncesvalles to Zubiri and maybe Pamplona and then play it by ear after that.

A selection of Camino Jewellery
OK. Is that because there is more accommodation after Pamplona? Thanks.
Not really, it is mostly because pilgrims start to string out more as they walk at different paces, some get injured and some give up for various reasons.

I’ve booked the first 3 nights accommodation… I would recommend doing the same and then seeing how busy it is.

With one exception, I have always booked advanced reservations on any Camino I have walked. Relaxing and enjoying the day makes up for hurrying & worrying.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

I don't hurry, I don't worry, I just walk and when I am ready to stop walking I stop and find a place there to stay. Works for me.

It is different this year with so many places closed. It seems like there's a real risk that there will not be a bed available, especially the first few days out of Roncevalles.
Any advice taking into consideration conditions this August would be appreciated.
