hi All,

I am arriving by bus from Madrid into Astorgia around 6pm on 1st Sept.

As I am travelling alone, I had a few last minute questions.

1. Will I be able to obtain my Camino passport that evening in order to start walking the following morning? If so, please can you advise where I might pick one up?
2. Is it best that I book accommodation before I arrive?
3. How easy is it to find the Camino route starting out the next morning?

Ideally, id like to book something where others are also departing from, just as a reassurance since this is my first trip on Camino.

Thanks everyone for any thoughts.

1. You can get the credencial in Albergue Siervas de MarĂa -at Plaza San Francisco. Everybody knows the place. From the bus terminal, 1 km.
2. It is huge, with 164 beds, in a labyrinthic style building. But it does not accept reservations. There are other, private albergues. Needed reservation?: I can't say, I've never been there this month. Generally, if the public albergue is full, hospitaleros help you with other posible lodgings.
3. Easy. Just follow the arrows. And early in the morning, there will be a long queue of pilgrims.
3 bis: good places to dine in the plaza mayor.
Buen camino!

6 pm isn't really late by Spanish standards ;-) Astorga has two pilgrim albergues, see http://www.gronze.com/etapa/villar-mazarife/astorga with over 250 beds together and both should have Credenciales. Also plenty of private accommodation around. Buen Camino, SY

Just an FYI that all available beds are taken in SJPDP tonight - fully, truly COMPLETO! There’s an indication of how busy this year may be since it’s just a Wednesday in late April, not usually...
