I discovered its cheaper to buy the hiking poles once you arrive on the Camino. That way I can carry my backpack in the cabin overhead compartment, rather than checking it in and paying a hefty surcharge with most low cost European airlines.
Prior to my first Camino I've never used them, but...
Clothes in layers are most effective in dealing with the cold.. I'm from the warmer climate myself and have walked last April... Haven't experienced cold even during lower temps.. You get warmed up a lot during walking.
Buen Camino!
Why is that @Anniesantiago?
I kind of expected my second Camino to be more of joy in things already discovered on the first one and lacking any major surprises
My experience was that feet get warm and swollen during walking and soaking or showering the feet in ice cold water after a day's walk feels great.
But that worked for me, if you have a medical condition that this treatment could cause harm obviously avoid it
I second @SYates
Liaten to your body, take frequent short breaks, let your feet breathe and practice R. I. C. E. regimen for your feet (rest, ice, compression, elevation)
Buen Camino!
just booked the plane...flying on the 2nd of April to Barcelona, arriving SJPDP via Pamplona on the 3rd and hitting the road to Santiago on April 4th
... now just need to manage to restrain my impatience until then :)
